228 aerospace buyer-supplier meetings in Birmingham

3 Mar 2011

The Aerospace Opportunities 2011 event held in Birmingham on 2 March 2011 gave 15 buyers from Europe and India and 30 Midlands suppliers the chance to hold a series of one-to-one meetings over the course of a day.

The event was organised by UK Trade and Investment, supported by the Midlands Aerospace Alliance and Enterprise Europe Network, and hosted by MAA member Delcam.

UK Trade Minister Lord Green visited and held discussions with MAA members.

Buyers from 15 companies across the world were in attendance to talk with potential suppliers from the Midlands. Buyers included Rolls-Royce, Aerotech Peissenberg, Lufthansa Technik and Hispano-Suiza.

Supplier feedback was uniformly positive -- an excellent opportunity to meet up to 10 potential new customers in one day.

Lord Green said the Government wanted to turn around the UK’s export performance so the economy was more dependent on exports to world markets rather than reliant on demand at home. The policy is designed to help the UK close its balance of trade deficit.
